"This CD
features the unique sounds produced by Zeta electric violins, on
which all of the music is performed along with accompanying
synthesizer sound effects. We also employ innovative performance
techniques on these instruments to maximize the electronic
capabilities as well as effectively illustrate the underlying story
created through our non-traditional recording of Bartok's famous 44
duets for two violins.
By implementing this process, you, as the listener, will notice
starkly unorthodox classical performance methods, including
out-of-sync phrasing and entrances, melodic distortions, tonal
imbalances and fluttering uneven bow strokes along with coarse
manipulations of the strings. For example, we often allow each violin
to represent a part of the body or individual person within a larger
construct, creating an offset relationship with the opposing violin
part. We strongly feel that these methods not only impart cutting
edge performance techniques and occasionally satirical reflections of
traditional classical performances but also, more importantly,
effectively illustrate and portray each scene of this telling story
of two strangers who meet in an off-beat bar."
